yesterday, india's fastest bowler, yuzvendra chahal took to his social media handles to address the endless rumours swirling around him after the team's loss against australia in the t20 world cup semifinals.
A Long Time Coming
chahal wrote a heartfelt post on instagram where he revealed that despite all the fan wars, he knows who he really is. and what he wants from life - to be loved by his fans for who he truly is.
"it's funny how in our society when someone is wrong, we forget how to forgive & love them back," chahal wrote. "we get caught up in the hate & the negativity & in the end what do we have? more and more hurt people
as a cricketer who has been fortunate enough to have such an amazing fanbase i have seen it all from both sides of the fence.
A Message to His Fans
"to my fans out there, i want you to know that i see everything. & most of the time it's good but sometimes its not. and honestly some times it hurts a lot more than i can handle.
i understand that when we root for someone who is struggling, it can be tempting to take it out on others who are also struggling within ourselves.
"i know that my mental health isn't perfect & sometimes it might seem like i'm not doing enough. but rest assured, i am working very hard to get better every day and to be the best version of myself
When Rumours Become Insults
"there are certain things that people say about me which hurt more than others," chahal wrote. "some of it is just plain mean & i wish people could understand that sometimes taking a joke or not being able to laugh at yourself doesn't have anything to do with being a good person
"as a cricketer, i've learned how to handle the pressure and criticism better than anyone. but when it comes to my personal life & relationships, i'm still learning.
A Lesson Learned
"one thing i have learned from all of this is that people are more divided than ever before," chahal said. "sometimes i wish that we could just be one big happy family instead of being so quick to judge and label each other
"i know that it's not going to change overnight, but as a fanbase, we can try to do better.
